27th Jul 2026
Abstract
This article examines policy frameworks for integrating Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia, using the human rights-based approach, with a focus on housing and health sectors, major pillars of effective refugee integration. It analyses the relevant legal landscape, including Slovakia’s transposition of the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive, alongside secondary data on policy implementation, to assess rights provision and assistance. The study suggests critical gaps and practical challenges in these processes, and provides evidence-based insights to develop more effective rights-based strategies in Slovakia.
